Cleanroom Access Procedures


Steps to Enter the Cleanroom

1st step: Complete two Environmental Health and Safety (EHS) trainings and provide the certificates of completion to the cleanroom manager:

  1. Laboratory Safety and Chemical Waste Management
  2. Chemical Hygiene Plan

2nd step:  Complete Science 1 Building Safety Training (schedule with Lab Safety Manager Jesse Massotto, jesse.massotto@uconn.edu).

3rd step: Complete the Cleanroom Safety Training Form

  • Print the form (two pages), insert your initials into blank parts next to the trainings (top of the 1st page), answer the exam question on page 2, and sign the bottom of 1st page of the form (full name, date, and signature) using an ink pen. Submit the originals to the cleanroom manager (Science 1, Room G10K). Please Note:  The corridor door could be locked, please call and/or email cleanroom manager before arriving.

Steps to Access Cleanroom Instrumentation

4th step: Users must be trained on the instrument they plan to use and must demonstrate knowledge of the use of that particular instrument to the satisfaction of the cleanroom manager.

5th step: IMS Facilities Manager Joshua Strecker will provide access to the cleanroom area once all other requirements have been satisfied.
